Scotgen withdraw permit application with SEPA Tuesday 18/9/12 BBC Ceefax news A permit for a waste incineration plant in Lanarkshire has been withdrawn according to SEPA. Scotgen had wanted to build the plant at Dovesdale near Stonehouse but the plans attracted about 24,000 objections during a public consultation period. SEPA said it had asked the firm 44 questions as part of the permit application process. But Scotgen failed to answer all of the questions and withdrew the application. Posted by Heather Stewart on 18 September 2012 Council Elections Dovesdale Action Group celebrated the scalp of planning committee chair Graham Scott at the recent local council elections as it was he who presided over the approval of the application for an incinerator at Dovesdale. Again the Group welcomed the defeat of Alex Allison who also voted for the incinerator. Mobile teams of supporters from throughout South Lanarkshire visited all the wards where councillors approved the incinerator and hopefully the action of our supporters again highlighted the need for councillors to listen to their constituents when voting on issues that affect their lifes and their communities. The campaign continues and we welcome your support in protecting our environment and health and ensure the peoples voice is heard. Posted by John Young on 04 May 2012 Hope v Apathy Business and governments are incinerating materials that can either serve mans purpose or have taken the earth millions of years to create. They are as a consequence sending up millions of tonnes of deadly cancerous toxins which are deadly to human life and the natural environment. That cannot be good. Posted by John Young on 28 August 2011 Burning Issue In Europe 33,000 doctors have signed a petition against incineration, can they be wrong too?...we need to stand up and fight for our community if we think its worth fighting for and we need our politicians to stand up and protect our country against the threat to not only our environment but our economy which could be devastated as a consequence of toxic emissions. Please support us in any way you can. Posted by John Young on 24 August 2011 letters Attended the STONEHOUSE meeting and found it very informative. I'm keen to understand when the template letter will be ready as we are in peak hols and with the notice now in the advertiser the clock is ticking. The campaigners have worked tirelessly on our behalf and made it so difficult for scotgen by asking the right questions and my hat is off to each and very one of them.
